Players
For NBA players, there is no offseason when it comes to their community outreach and philanthropic work. Through personal foundations or initiatives with community organizations, they use their unique position to help people. Players address issues close to their hearts, including assisting underprivileged children, giving back to the communities where they were raised, and aiding health-related causes. These efforts generate awareness and raise funds for important social issues, providing opportunities for a better life in communities worldwide.

The Randy Foye Foundation (RFF), started in 2007, raises funds and develops programs and projects aimed directly at improving the lives of the people, especially the kids, of Newark. Foye was raised which is Newark, NJ, and lost both his parents by age six.
Greg Oden
Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden works with Oregon Mentors, a non-profit organization unifying youth mentoring programs throughout the state. “Team ODEN” is aimed at helping Oregon Mentors reach its goal to connect 40,000 youth with caring adult mentors by 2010.
Vince Carter
Orlando Magic forward Carter has contributed $1.6 to the Vince Carter Sanctuary, which is a 100-bed addiction treatment center in Bunnell, Florida, just west of Carter’s hometown in Daytona Beach.
Caron Butler
Recognized by The Sporting News as one of the top “Good Guys” in sports in 2006, Butler hosts his "3D Summer Explosion’, which hosted a day of service, a charity basketball game, a free basketball clinic, and his annual bike brigade in the summer of 2009.
Chris Duhon
Through his Stand Tall Foundation, Orlando Magic guard Chris Duhon has been supporting refurbishment and outreach projects in his hometown of Slidell, Louisiana, which was devastated by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.
Al Horford
Atlanta Hawks forward Al Horford participated in Basketball without Borders 2008 in Mexico City. He is also involved in the Atlanta area, where he works with Hispanic youth groups including the STAR House and La Amistad and supports his own outreach initiative, Al’s Amigos.
